The Full Guide to Germany contains information about the country and the towns and cities in the country.

Germany is the country with both the largest economy, and the largest population in Europe. The country was divided in two in 1949, shortly after the end of the second World War, and at the start of what became known as the Cold War. In the west, the country was known as the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), and in the east, it was known as the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The FRG, often known as West Germany, got deeply involved in various organisations, and joined the European Community, which later became the European Union. The GDR, known as East Germany, was part of the soviet led Warsaw Pact. Both countries were re-united on October 3rd, 1990, and the country has since spent a considerable amount of money bringing the eastern part up to the standard of living enjoyed by the western part.

Germany is divided into Federal States, or Länder, as follows : Baden-Württemberg - Bavaria - Berlin - Brandenburg - Bremen - Hamburg - Hesse - Lower Saxony - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - North Rhine-Westphalia - Rhineland-Palatinate - Saarland - Saxony - Saxony-Anhalt - Schleswig-Holstein - Thuringia
